Ngupahan: Bogor's Food Innovation Wins Provincial Award and Fights Food Waste

The digital initiative Ngupahan from the Food Security Agency (DKP-Dinas Ketahanan Pangan) of Bogor Regency continues to prove itself as a highly competitive and sustainable solution for tackling food waste. After previously being a finalist in the National Ideathon organized by the United Nations Partnership for Action on Green Economy (UN-PAGE) Indonesia, Ngupahan has now gained official recognition at the West Java Provincial level.

This success is underpinned by remarkable progress in the field, where the initiative demonstrates significant adoption and impact within the community.

Field Progress and Provincial Recognition
Ngupahan serves as a digital platform for sharing surplus food and reducing food waste, aligning with circular economy principles and climate change mitigation efforts. Recent data shows that the initiative is not just a concept; it has become an active part of the food solution in Bogor Regency:

  • Total Active Users: Ngupahan has reached 533 active users.
  • Total Sharing Transactions: There have been a total of 1,244 sharing transactions, covering both food retrieval and donations.
  • Food Types Shared: 328 types of food have been successfully distributed and shared through the platform.

In recognition of Ngupahan's extensive efforts, including direct food rescue actions and regulatory development, the Food Security Agency (DKP-Dinas Ketahanan Pangan) of Bogor Regency was honored with the West Java Governor's Award in the Food Salvation Movement (GSP-Gerakan Selamatkan Pangan) Award for 2025. The DKP Bogor was specifically acknowledged as the "Most Innovative Food Security Agency" at the Provincial level. As noted by the Head of Food Security Agency, Ngupahan was the differentiating factor among other regional actions, confirming its role as an impactful and unique innovation in the food salvation movement.

New Leadership and Cross-Sector Support
The sustained progress of Ngupahan is also supported by strengthened leadership and collaboration across local government agencies in Bogor Regency. The Head of Food Security Agency, is currently Mr. Teuku Mulya, S.T., M.T., who also serves as the Acting Head of the Environmental Agency (DLH-Dinas Lingkungan Hidup).

The involvement of the Head of Agency, who also leads the environmental sector, creates a strategic synergy ensuring that the Ngupahan food-sharing initiative not only addresses food security but also directly contributes to waste reduction and emissions abatement at Final Disposal Sites (TPA-Tempat Pembuangan Akhir).

Ngupahan Innovator Advances in Civil Servant Awards
The positive impact of Ngupahan extends beyond the institutional level. One member of the Ngupahan development team, Dwi Aryanti Nur'utami, S.TP., First Expert Food Security Analyst at the Food Security Agency (DKP) of Bogor regency, successfully passed the first stage of selection for the Bogor Regency Innovative High-Achieving Civil Servant Award for 2025.

Ms. Dwi's innovative entry is "The Piring Berbagi Feature in the Ngupahan Application: A Modern Solution for Surplus Food Management Supporting Food Security in Bogor Regency". Her advancement to the interview stage, scheduled for October 2, 2025, demonstrates the high strategic and implementational value of this DKP-led innovation, while promoting a culture of innovation among Civil Servants.

Ngupahan proves that public sector innovation can be sustainable, receive regional recognition, and act as a catalyst for a larger movement supporting food security and the green economy in Indonesia.
